Students interested in pursuing Postgraduate studies in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology should do the following:
1. Identify the area in which you would like to do your postgraduate studies, by looking at the summary of the research interests of the staff in Molecular and Cell Biology.
2. Identify whom you would like to have as a supervisor of your postgraduate studies by looking up the individual research profiles of each of our academic staff members. Staff members will often advertise potential graduate research projects on their web sites
3. Email the academic concerned with a copy of your CV and academic record, and names of three referees. Express an interest in their research area, and ask the academic if they would be prepared to offer you a graduate research project.
4. If the academic accepts you into their research programme, download the application forms off the web. Please send the completed application forms and the application fee to the Admissions office, University of Cape Town, Private Bag Rondebosch 7701, South Africa.

5. Send a copy of these forms to Assoc Prof Vernon Coyne, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Cape Town, Private Bag Rondebosch 7701, South Africa. In the email to him, you MUST indicate the name of the academic with whom you will be studying. Please do NOT send Assoc Prof Coyne the original application forms, nor the application fee. This should be sent to the UCT Admissions Office which will process your application. |
